Welcome from UK Sport

UK Sport is delighted to welcome you to Manchester. We are proud to be supporting this event with up to £90 000, through our National Lottery funded World Class Events Programme.

The Championships will provide a fantastic development opportunity for the British team, giving the athletes involved an invaluable occasion to benefit from experiencing international competition on home soil. This is especially important as British Swimming and their partners look towards advancing the sport in the run up to the London Olympic Games in 2012.

All of us at UK Sport wish all the teams all the very best for the competition ahead. Thanks to everyone involved in staging the event and enjoy your time in Manchester.

John Scott,  International Director, UK Sport

Welcome from Manchester City Council

Manchester is delighted to be hosting the LEN European Nations Trophy at the Manchester Aquatics Centre in July.

Manchester City Council has events at the heart of its development strategy and recognises the exposure they can bring to the city and the profile they can give Manchester’s development work. The City Council is continuing to provide Water Polo opportunities for its residents, with the aim to ensure that every young person can realise their potential by accessing our programmes.

We are committed to enhancing Manchester’s event portfolio and these championships form part of an exciting period for sport in the City with the hosting of a series of world class events in the next two years, including World Championships for Cycling, Swimming and Squash.

We will undoubtedly see some top class performances over the week and Manchester City Council is proud to be working with the partners that I’m sure will make the event a great success.

Councillor Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council
